Who we are

Mike Barker is a, sports psychologist, ex pro footballer with national honours and a qualified FA Coach. Mike has spent over 25 years working and studying the behaviour patterns of top athletes both as individuals and as part of a team. He set out to discover the answer to a question "If two athletes of equal ability compete against each other what extra 'ingredient' did the winner have that gave them the competitive edge over the other". The answer revolved around the mental attributes that differed between the two.

When Mike started work in mainstream industry with Ford Motor Company he noticed that comparisons could be made between groups of sportsmen/women and people working as teams in offices or on the shop floor. The same individual characteristics came to the fore. There were those who showed the same disciplines by getting on with the job and ignoring negative distractions, whilst others seemed to be more worried about things they had no control over. Very few were self-motivated with the majority having to be coaxed. Mike quickly discovered the qualities that set the winners apart in sport, were no different from people, particularly sales people, who were at the top of their profession in business.

Mike is a  Sales Mentor who by using the ideas and knowledge gained in sport is able to help companies develop both their sales operation as a whole and the sales personnel as individuals, allowing them to be more productive, competitive, creative and motivated.

Mike has coached over 1500 sales people, was responsible for  and has managed sales development projects valued at over £28 million all over Europe.
